Antibodies play an important role in the control of human norovirus infections. Knowledge of the antigenic landscape for serum antibodies impacts understanding of the humoral immune response and vaccine design. Huang et al. (e01495-20) utilized a high-resolution method combining genomic libraries and next-generation sequencing to map multiple antibody binding sites simultaneously from polyclonal sera. The results indicate that a relatively small number of sites on the virus bind a large number of antibodies, suggesting that immunodominance plays a role in the humoral immune response to norovirus infections.
