Healthy communication in the promotion of healthy aging during COVID-19 pandemic

Communication in medicine is a fundamental clinical skill and one of the most important tools we have for providing quality patient care and improving patient satisfaction. Good communication between health professionals and patients is mutually beneficial and essential in the therapeutic process. The patient can receive a better and more personalized care, while the health worker will find it easier to perform his work. Communication in medicine has evolved from the paternalistic model to the current model of collaborative partnership, which highlights the importance of informed consent and shared decision making. In person-centered medicine and people-centered health care, an effective communication is regarded as the best example of (the art of medicine), while the communication skills training has become internationally accepted as an essential component of medical education.
