摘要

The recent progress in molecular biology and genetics generates an increasing interest in investigating genomic or molecular biomarkers, as markers of diagnosis, prognosis or response to treatment. The longitudinal measure of biomarkers is useful for characterizing the occurrence of an outcome of interest, as they can be predictive of treatment results or related to the event process and prognosis. For example, the present work is motivated by a study, where the objective was to explore the potential of the long pentraxin 3 (PTX3) as a prognostic marker of Acute Graft- -Host Disease (GvHD) after haematopoietic stem cell transplantation [ ].
