ImportanceAmyloid-β (Aβ) plaques are a cardinal neuropathological feature of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), yet over a third of apolipoprotein E ε4 (APOE4) non-carriers with the clinical diagnosis of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s dementia may not meet positron emission tomography (PET) criteria for significant cerebral amyloidosis.
