Is there a relationship between body mass index and diabetic retinopathy in type II diabetic patients? A cross sectional study

BackgroundType 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most important leading causes of disability, premature mortality and Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) that is one of the diabetes-related complications in diabetic patients and the most common cause of vision loss in diabetic patients. The aim of the study was to evaluate the association between DR and body mass index (BMI) in those patients with T2DM.
