National Database for the Procurement and Transplantation of Non-Renal Organs

The United Network for Organ Sharing maintains the national database of potential recipients waiting for the transplantation of human organs. The database relating to non-renal organs, i.e., hearts, heart-lungs, livers, lungs and pancreata, is discussed. Field descriptions of the records are presented with an overview of the history of the database.
