System User Acceptance Thru System User Participation

摘要

Numerous articles and text books refer to system user participation as being the key to successful systems acceptance following system implementation. Too little is written on how to achieve this objective. Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center (WHMC) is a 1000 bed teaching medical center which has evolved an effective methodology to insure system user acceptance through participation. This methodology includes a data automation committee and ad hoc workgroups, the use of peer leaders, and extensive user participation in the activities of: (1) requirements development, (2) visits to system operational sites, (3) hands-on user experience, (4) development and execution of a user training program, (5) preparation for implementation, (6) system evaluation, and (7) general orientation sessions.
