Book III: Scientific and Research Applications in Medical Care: A Notation for Information Flow Models Supporting Interactive System Development

摘要

A notation for description of information flow networks has been developed to facilitate the design and programming of computerized information handling systems. It uses a number of graphic symbols to describe operations on the information flow. Each symbol has a corresponding formal expression which may be entered into a computer via an interactive program and executed by a special interpreter, which means that the description also is a prototype system that can be used for demonstration and test execution. The method has been used to design and model hospital communication handling systems. The description is also used for construction of distributed production systems running on smaller computers.
