Case of intraperitoneal sepsis secondary to rupture of the appendix on the background of pseudomyxoma peritonei

IntroductionPseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is characterised by gelatinous ascites and pools of mucin associated with neoplastic mucinous epithelium within the peritoneal cavity. It can rarely present as acute intraperitoneal sepsis, requiring urgent medical attention.
