Management of major complications encountered with flexible colonoscopy.

摘要

Management of 65 consecutive complications associated with flexible colonoscopic procedures is reported. The data show that surgical intervention is rarely necessary to manage hemorrhage following polypectomies, whether this occurs immediately after the procedure or is delayed. Free colonic perforations sustained during endoscopic procedures can be managed safely with primary rather than staged surgical procedures. Microperforations may be treated successfully with or without antibiotics.
