Heat loss during neonatal operations

摘要

The changes in the body and environmental temperatures were measured in 37 babies who were subjected to various operations within three weeks of birth. Factors that cause fluctuations in body temperature have been identified, and means of preventing such changes are described. It is essential to prevent undue exposure and to maintain a microclimate at a suitable temperature round the baby at all stages before, during, and after operation.
