Guangzhou-Foshan Metro (GFM) was built on the joint investment and construction of the two cities, it has 21 stations with a total length of 32.16 km (100% underground), as the first intercity metro line of China, it also forms a part of the Pearl River Delta rapid rail transit system. The full-scale construction of GFM started in June, 2007, and the formal operation on the first section (between Kuiqi Road and Xilang Station) was in November, 2010. The management-service-procurement (MSP) model is introduced in and applied to the whole process of the construction and operation of GFM by Foshan Metro Cooperation Company Limited.
