华裔物理界的一次盛会 1980年广州粒子物理理论讨论会的召开及其意义与影响

The 1980 Guangzhou Conference on Theoretical Particle Physics is a turning point in the development of particle physics in China. By investigating the background, process, and results of this meeting, this article discusses its academic significance, as well as its social and political influence. Being held under the special circumstances of a country recovering from the Cultural Revolution, this symposium not only brought new chances to particle physics in China, but also proved to be an important breakthrough for Chinese academic circle to open the door for external communication. Some politically or socially sensitive issues also emerged during the conference.
