Many people think of identity and family as two separate things. In fact, we cannot understand one without reference to the other. Sometimes it may not always be so obvious, but when we talk about family roles and values, identity creeps into this topic. This paper explains the author's approach to these terms and my understanding of the connections between them. The aim of this paper is to provide a general background to the topic and give the reader a clear outline of the investigative aims and over?all objectives.
