Nerve repair after spinal cord injury(SCI)requires orderly growth,migration,and transmission of neuronal signals in the regenerated nerve fibers at the injury site.Neuronal apoptosis occurs at the site of injury,so a regional'barrier'forms,and the nerve fibers cannot be reconstructed in an orderly manner.
