Ins(1,4,5)P3 Suppresses Protein Degradation in Plant Vacuoles by Regulating SNX-Mediated Protein Sorting

摘要

Dear Editor, Protein degradation is an essential process for protein dynamics and the development of living organisms, and defective protein degradation can lead to abnormalities in protein accumulation and cell functions. In addition to the conserved proteasomedependent pathway in both mammals and plants, the lytic vacuole-dependent pathway is crucial for protein degradation in plants (Cai et al.,2014).Studies showed that SORTING NEXIN1 (SNX1) is an important regulator determining membrane proteins, such as auxin efflux carrier PIN2,into lytic vacuoles for degradation (Jásik et al.,2013).SNXs are evolutionarily conserved in endosomal protein complexes and in plant cells.SNX1 plays an important role in the endosomal localization of the SNX1-SNX2 complex by forming heterodimers with SNX2a or SNX2b,and functions redundantly with SNX2 in regulating seedling growth and development (Pourcher et al.,2010).
