There－小句作为一种普遍而特有的小句类型备受不同流派学者们的关注。 Bas Aarts详尽地阐释了句法的渐进现象，将句法中的渐进现象细分为SG（范畴内的渐进现象）和IG（范畴间的渐进现象），并提出“IG＝SG＋强制溶合”的论断。实证分析表明，there－小句中的SG和IG之间确有其内在联系，符合“IG＝SG＋强制溶合”的论断，但there－小句跨越了存在类和指称类两个不同的句法范畴，属范畴间的渐进现象。%As a universal but specific syntactic structure , there-clause has been attracting the attention of many scholars in different linguistic schools .Bas Aarts classifies syntactic gradience into Subsective Gradi-ence (SG) and Intersective Gradience (IG) via a large amount of syntactic analysis .He argues that there is an internal relationship between SG and IG and further puts forward the formula “IG =SG +strong conver-gence”.Based on Bas Aarts ’ opinion , there-clause belongs to Intersective Gradience , involves two distinct categories:existential and deictic , and verifies the formula“IG =SG +strong convergence”through sever-al there-clauses .
