A novel approach to image hemoglobin concentration(ΔD_ hb) and oxygen saturation (ΔD_ oxy) of breast tissue is presented. The scenograph of dual-wavelength (760 and 850 nm) near infrared lights through breast tissue is acquired by high sensitive charge coupled device (CCD) camera. The evaluation criterion of the difference of ΔD_ hb and ΔD_ oxy between detected and referenced breast tissue can be obtained by a calculation formula without complicate caculation. This approach is applied to clinic detection in breast tissue. The ongoing clinical experiments indicate that malignant tumor usually exhibits characterize of “higher ΔD_ hb and lower ΔD_ oxy”, while benign lesion often shows “lower ΔD_ hb and higher ΔD_ oxy” or other characters. So it is useful to assist the diagnosis of breast disease.
