After Buddhism was introduced into China, through the development from Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern dynasties to Sui and Tang dynasties, it gradually became the first major religion in China. From the beginning of the establishment of the Liaojin regime, the Buddha was valued and worshipped, when a lot of temples were built. Land and money were given to the temples. Yungang grottoes were especially paid attention to, which were repaired many times and protected, greatly promoting the development of Buddhism in this period.
