Fast calculation of thermodynamic properties of refrigerant is fundamental and important for refrigeration system simulation. But the existing models for the thermodynamic properties evaluation are not suitable because of their complexity form or limited available range. A new polynomial curve fitting method was developed to meet the requirements of fast evaluation of thermodynamic properties of refrigerant for refrigeration system simulation. An implicit cubic linear function was adopted for curve fitting of refrigerant saturation properties and a sectional smooth technique was developed for wider fitting range. Case studies using refrigerants R12, R22, R134a and R600a, in common encountered temperature range show high agreement to the reference data and good flexibility in refrigeration system simulation.
