泰晤士河是英国人的“母亲河”，但是自工业革命以后，泰晤士河水质急剧恶化，导致霍乱频发，严重影响了伦敦居民的生命安全。从19世纪中叶开始，英国政府就着手治理泰晤士河。经过两次大规模的治理，水质得到了明显好转，基本恢复了泰晤士河的生态系统，重现了昔日的碧水蓝天。从水质污染到环境典范，其经验教训对于正处在工业化进程中的我国具有借鉴意义。%The pollution of Thames water is a long-standing problem ,after the industrial revolution,industrial wastewater and domestic sewage as a major source of pollution , caused a sharp quality deterioration of river water. Thames became dirty, seriously affected the safety of the residents of London. From the mid-19th century, the British government set about dealing with Thames. After the first period of discharge from 1858 to 1891, government built intercept underground sewage disposal network , transferred the sewage to the river mouth , to some extent , reduce the pollution . From 1955 to 1975 , based on the construction of sewage treatment works on both sides of the river , the quality of water has been significantly improved, basically restored the ecosystems of Thames. From water pollution to the environment model, its experiences is significant in the process of industrialization in China .
