The protagonists of the movie “The Joy Luck Club” are four pairs of mothers and daughters, who are Chinese-American. The time span of the movie is very large, reflecting the history of the development of Chinese women's fate, a detailed description of the bleak life of the Chinese women in the past, as wel as their awakening of activism, the efforts they made to change their own destiny. The film starts with the "feather story", also ends with it.
