河姆渡出土的陶块上，有三叶纹、五叶纹和长方盆纹，统称“叶盆刻纹”。无论是作为“盆栽”还是“盆景”，都很可能是先民崇拜神灵的神祗或图腾的依借、用作祭祀的供品，而不可能用于实际生产。从图饰的盆器看，长方形盆利于表现图腾、神祗、自然景观，且只合适配置盆景使用，也是当代山水盆景的专用盆器。另外，盆栽迄今尚无使用长盆的先例。%There are three-leaves pattern, five-leaves pattern and rectangular pattern ceramic blocks unearthed at Hemudu Site which are collectively called“pot carved with leaf pattern”. No matter using as potting or bonsai they were probably used as sacrificial offerings for the totem or gods adored by ancient people rather than production. And the rectangular basin was not only suitable for showing totem, the gods and natural landscape but also was the most suitable for bonsai. The rectangular basin is also specially used for bonsai, but not for potting at present.
