The reflection and transmission character-istics of a coaxial waveguide partially filled with a two layer chiral medium are investigated using a method which com-bines the multimode network theory with a rigorous mode matching procedure. Equivalent radial transmission lines in the transverse cross section and multimode transmission lines in the longitudinal direction are introduced. The for-mulas of the reflection and transmission coefficient matrix are derived. The numerical results show that the chiral-ity and permittivity of the filled materials have significant influence on the reflection and transmission characteristics.
