An advanced measuring system with a tri-single-fibre-optical-probe has been developedto measure two-dimensional vapour (gas) bubble velocity. The cross correlation method isused for the data reduction of the two-dimensional vapour bubble velocity measurement. Inthe use of the cross correlation method, the key technique of the rejection of non-correlationvapour bubble signals has been developed. The measuring system has been used to measurethe two-dimensional velocities of air bubbles with free upward flow in the stagnant water. Themeasured air bubble velocities agree well with the results calculated by empirical relationship.
