Under the background of rising demand for betelnut,Both the scale and the output of betelnut have been substantially developped in Qiongzhou in Qing Dynasty.However,the production of betel nut is conditioned by the natural environment,together with the court polices.As the betelnut farmers obtain the benefits from betel nut,they also have to put up with the harmfulness brought about by the unreasonable betelnut tax,which cracked down the enthusiasm of the betelnut farmers and unfavorable for the further development of betelnut plantations in Qiongzhou.
