In recent years, China has witnessed continuous renovation on coal gasification technologies. An objective and sensible evaluation standard has to be established for proper assessment of coals and besides, problems relating to philosophy and general issues have to be distinguished. The paper suggested the assumption that the selection of gasification technology should be subject to the coal rank, the product to be turned out, the production capacity and the basic facts of the owner's enterprise.
