Glume and anther were ground with a drop ofcold 0.4% betamercaptoenthanol and a drop of10% glycerol,then separated by noncontinu-ous PAGE and stained with bendizine,Astrong polymorphisic peroxidase locus——Pox—x was found(see figure).There were threePox—x alleles and one of them was a silent al-lele that was vary rare in sample.Analysis of42 indica and 58 japonica accessions revealedthat frequency of Pox—x^1(F_1) was 0.095 in in-dica and(F_1)was 0.810 in japonica.The fre-quency of Pox—x^2 was 0.881 in indica and 0.190 in japonica.Pox—x^0 was discovered in in-dica with frequency of 0.023 only.The D_1 val-nes(D_j=F_1/(F_1+(F_1)of Pox—x^1,Pox—x^2,Pox—x^0 showed that the probability of the car-
