Idiopathic scoliosis can be divided into two types,e.g.adolescent and infantile.90% of the infantile type of idiopathic scoliosis would disappear spontaneously.As the curve becomes worse,the treatment goes more difficult,and damage to the function of the heart and lungs may occur.Early fusion of the curved spine may inter fere with the growth of the affected vertebrae and lead to short stature of the body.Here,13 cases of infantile scol iosis were operated upon with subcutaneous Harrington's instrrumentation without fusion.The advantage of this method includes less surgical trauma,no inhibition of growth of spine.And,the curve can be corrected in several stages through a small incision at regular intervals of 8-12 months.%采用皮下哈林顿杠撑开治疗3～6岁较重特发性脊柱侧凸13例,其中男性8例,女性5例.平均年龄4.5岁.手术前Cobb角最大110°,最小38°,平均67.5°;手术后Cobb角最大80°,最小19°,平均37.7°.矫正率最大76%,最小30%,平均46%.随访时间平均2.5年.本法特点是不做全脊柱剥离,不值骨.定期随访,对患儿生长发育影响不大,而且可以及时控制侧凸的恶化.
