Role of glycogen synathese kinase-3β in Alzheimer-like neurodegeneration

Hyperphosphorylated tau in the form of paired helical filament is the major protein component of neurofibrillary tangle,which is positively correlated with the degree of dementia in patients with Alzheimer disease(AD),the most common cause of dementia in the elderly.Activation of protein kinases or/and inhibition of protein phosphatases is responsible for tau hyperphosphorylation.Among various kinases,glycogen
