The era of big data provides an unprecedented opportunity for the study of intensive care medicine. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, the MIMIC database was jointly published by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Computational Physiology Laboratory, the Beth Israel Dikon Medical Center, and Philips Medical. An open source code package for analyzing patient characteristics on the github platform provides additional tools for researchers to use the MIMIC database. This article is intended to introduce the MIMIC code repository.
