Gertse County,situated in the hinterland of Changtang Prairie,is not only the birthplace of"Pioneer-Corps’spirits,"but also the location where stories about the history,culture,and social transformation of the three local tribes(Sengo,Drongpa,and Gertse)widely prevail.A local proverb goes,"The Sengo tribe is the interior treasure,while the Gertse tribe is the exterior guardian of said treasure."A large number of herders currently dwelling on this land descend from migrants who came in from Qinghai Province,Chamdo and Nagchu of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
