Xinji City, in the middle south of Hebei Province, has a tanning history of more than 400 years. The city boasted over 100 kinds of fur and leather products, over 300 workshops and shops and 24 foreign agencies in the early years of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Since 1949, especially since 1981,the city’s tanning industry has witnessed a big leap.
