Before liberation,Anhui’s civil aviation wasalmost a blank sheet.Even in the mid 1970s,therewere only four Class-C airports in Anqing,Hefei,Dunxi and Fuyang.Since the opening drive,especially during the Eighth Five-Year Plan period,Anhui’s civil aviation has been developing rapidly.1995 saw a passenger handling capacity of 832,971,cargo-handling capacity of 8940.7 tons,3.6 and 3.3times more than 1990 respectively,with an annualgrowth of 24.7 percent and 20.1 percent in fiveyears.
