After the Opium War,China was thrown into darkness,suffering from domestic problems and foreign invasion.Countless Chinese with lofty ideals,with indomitable will,one stepping into the breach as another fell,were unable to change the social nature of old China and the tragic fate of the Chinese people.It was not until the birth of the Communist Party of China in 1921 that the Chinese people gained the backbone of their struggle for independence,prosperity and people’s well-being,and the Chinese people were no longer passive.People of all ethnic groups were united around the Party like“all rivers flowing into the sea.”Finally,after long struggle and great sacrifice,they founded the People’s Republic of China and ushered in the era for Chinese national development.
