ACCORDING to Chinese le-gend,Emperor Yan wasborn more than 5,000 yearsago by the Jiang River in persent-day Baoji City,Shaanxi Province.His clan,together with the clan ofEmperor Huang(his brother)initiat-ed the Chinese civilization,and Em-Peror Yan and Huang are consideredthe first ancestors of the Chinesenation.
