The Dong nationality has a long history. Its people live mostly in border areas of Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces in China. Its language is Dong-Shui branch of Zhuang-Dong group of Sino-Tibetan family. There are southern and northern dialects, but people speaking different dialects still can communicate with each other.
