The operation of the second West-East Gas Pipeline was started in Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, and Shaanxi on February 22, 2008. It is the nation's first large-scale pipeline project introducing natural gas from other countries, which will be used to transmit the natural gas from the Middle Asia and Xinjiang to the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, and the middle east China. It is of great significance to ensure the nation's energy security and upgrade the energy consumption structure.
