EFFECT OF HYDROGEN BONDING ON DIRECTION OF PHOTOISOMERIZATION OF RETINOIDS:THE ORIGIN OF THE SOLVENT POLARITY EFFECT.

摘要

Studies of direction of photoisomerization of retinal,retinonitrile,a-retinonitrile and a trienenitrile analog in different solvents with varying wave-lengths of excitation and reaction temperature led to the conclusion that the wellknown solvent dependent photochemistry of retinoids is due to selective excitation ofthe hydrogen bonded species.
