A convenient and stereoseleetive approach to the synthesis of (3S. 4R. 6S)-2-oxo-3.4- dihydroxy-6-methyl-octanate derivative,a key intermediate for the synthesis of IIIV-1 proteaseinhibitor of didemnaketals analogue,has been developed successfully from L-(-)-menthone.
