China’s Top 10 Scientific Achievements in 1998, selected by 587 Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), were announced on January 6, 1999. The Top 10 Scientific Achievements selected by Members of the Two Academies is an annual event organized by the Science Times, an official newspaper of the CAS, in cooperation with the academic divisions of the two academies.
