In late October 2011, the distinguished glaciologist Lonnie Thompson from Ohio State University depicted to BCAS reporter XIN Ling how environment has been changing in the Tibetan Plateau region, which he sees as a global research focus in the coming decade. As one of the first Westerners to drill and study ice cores in China, he also recalled his collaboration and friendship with scholars from the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1984.
