NONLINEAR STELLAR RESPONSE TO THE GROWING SPIRAL GRAVITATIONAL DISTURBANCE AND ITS STABILIZING EFFECT ON THE GROWING MODE

摘要

The nonlinear stellar response to the growing spiral gravitational disturbance iscalculated.The result shows that this nonlinear response leads to the increase of Q,and thedecrease of the growth rate.This self-regulation mechanism is an important reason for thegrowing spiral mode to reach a quasi-stationary state eventually.
