Sweet sorghum [Sorghum bicolor(L.)Moench] is a C4 plant characterized by a high photosynthetic efficiency and a high biomass- and sugar-yielding crop[1]. Therefore, sweet sorghum has the potential of becoming a useful energy crop[2]. However, the raw materials of high quality are the focus and key point of sweet sorghum industrialization, which the scarcity of excellent varieties of sweet sorghum inhibits sustainable development of sweet sorghum industrialization. The Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences has established industrial chain based on circular economic to develop yeast products and good fodder for sweet sorghum since 2006. To date, many progresses have been made in recent years.
