Since 1987，we have sent into space about fifty spedes，three hundred varieties of crops in recoverable satellites．Among them， we selected a high－yield，disease－resistant and hghrid－vigorous rice strain；a recovered line of Japonica rice which can recover sterility of Indica rice ; anew green pepper strain which grows fruits over 3O0grams in weight； adisease－resistant，high－quality tomato strain；a big－pod rape strain； abig－fruit white lotus strain and a big－bulb lily． The special conditions in the outer space can induce a variety of mutations in the plants and their progenies， which provides a new way for plant breeding．
