The marriage views of Hans Denck, Dirk Philips, and Menno Simons.

Radical Reformation research has neglected the study of marriage. The examination of views of marriage held by Hans Denck, Menno Simons, and Dirk Philips, was accomplished through careful comparison of statements each made about marriage to the Scripture they used supporting their ideas. The three subjects represent a continuum of intellectual development in their respective marriage theologies, Hans Denck having the least developed marriage theology and Dirk Philips the most. Central to Denck's view was the belief that marriage was the best worldly reflection of God's love. For Dirk and Menno, marriage was a haven against the sinful outside world, protecting the believing congregation from sins of the flesh.
