Design of a client/server museum database application.

摘要

This thesis deals with the creation of a client server database application for the Speed Museum using the Oracle Database system thereby providing an efficient database system, which is intended in being used in the ongoing research on intelligent agents. Though this project deals with the Speed Art Museum and all the work is done towards its requirements, this would be applicable to any museum application. The novel part of this project is that it also provides a search form on the Internet, which caters to retrieving the data from the database and displaying the results. All the different specifications have been collected in order to provide applicability in the practical sense.; The oracle case tool Designer 2000 in conjunction with its back end utility SQLPLUS is used for the various operations like creation and maintenance of the database. Also accomplished is the embedding of images for selected data items, which might require display of their pictures in order for betterment of the user interfacial capabilities and also for further scope of enhancement of application. An effective web interface using Active Server Pages has been provided through which, the user can search for artifacts in the museum by using the name of the object or the date after which the object was created.
