The primary problem was to examine volunteers' motivation and perceived satisfaction in relation to their experience working at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea Japan. A secondary purpose was to improve better management skills for organizations in order to retain volunteers and maintain their desire to participate in future events. Specifically, this study was designed to determine what types of motivational and satisfactional factors would affect the volunteers that are participating in volunteer activity.; The survey questionnaire was developed after a study of literature by Farrell, Johnson and Twynam (1998) regarding volunteer motivations and satisfactions. The sample in this study consisted of selected 1100 volunteers of 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea Japan. A total of 242 questionnaires were returned. However, 16 of the 242 were unacceptable for use in this study. The 226 remaining questionnaires produced a 20.5% overall return rate. Frequencies and percentages, means and standard deviations were utilized to describe the data. T-test, One-way ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc tests were used to analyze the data.; According to the results of this study, motivation and satisfaction were both associated with four factors, which were altruism, patriotism, egoism and solidarity. Motivation and satisfaction are also related to each other and very important for volunteer organization. This suggests the managers of sport organizations should develop the factors of motivation and satisfaction and should investigate the relationship between motivation and satisfaction in other to be able to organize successful sporting events and improve management skills.
