摘要

The trend in computing over recent years has been toward small machines and "distributed processing". Delegating tasks to many computers rather than having everything done on a large, centralized computers. The main purpose of this thesis is to use a smart card application using web services. This application will communicate and update the smart card. The web service will provide a communication framework for the web client to update/browse information on the smart card.;Web services have evolved as a promising technology for distributed processing. Over time, smart cards also have found its use in many areas from credit cards to medical history maintenance. The main motive of this thesis is to investigate the use of smart card over the Internet using the implementation of .Net Web Services. The issues that will be addressed during the development deals with providing access and update capability on the smart card over the Internet.;The application will provide the smart card ability to connect and communicate with a Web Services. This thesis involves the design, development, and implementation of a Smart Card interaction with .Net Web Services. An in-depth look at the future applications of such web service based programmable smart card is also included.
