The research question focuses on Advanced Distributed Learning Systems Technology (ADLST) and its relation to one Vancouver Island, K--12 learning organization that has pioneered distance and online methodologies and practice. It is necessary to accurately establish where this organization is now with its learning technologies utilization, practice and potential. The following research questions will guide the Needs Assessment of SIDES' teaming systems.; How will advanced distributed learning systems technology support SIDES' vision of facilitating online learning? Systems thinking. (1) What is Advanced Distributed Learning technology? (2) What is the significance of CA*net 3/4 opportunities and participation? (3) Do we need or want access to CA*net? If yes, why? (4) Why should we invest our resources in this area? (5) Can ADL increase our ability to establish and maintain partnerships? (6) Will ADL technologies increase our ability to establish, maintain, and support organizational learning? (7) How will ADL impact our organization's current operations? If the path is to follow ADL, how do we do it, and what needs to done?; Learning environment. (1) What are the pedagogical implications? (2) How will ADL impact our learning methodologies, practice and Instructional Design? (3) What can ADL do for our organization and our learners?; Digital innovation. (1) What are ADL communication standards? (2) Is our IT infrastructure realistically capable of supporting and maintaining participation in CA*net projects? (3) Does our arsenal of technology encompass components that would qualify them as Advanced Distributed Learning technologies? If not, why? What is it lacking? (4) How can digital innovation help the organization to meet its goals? (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
